What makes a good friend? by Omari

What makes a good friend? What a good friend means sharing. In my words I would say caring for a friend would be being really nice or giving them a big cheer. Well my name is Omari and this is where you come and find out what a good friend is.

Being a good friend is something I call nice, giving, honest or brave.I f I had a friend I would hope he is very brave because if there was an emergency he would we able to save my life. Man I wish to have any friend but not kids who bully me or anyone else.

My friends are really nice and positive. They always have my back, but if I tell their secrets they won’t trust me that why I don’t like telling anything to anyone even if it’s a bully. I like having friends because it reminds me of my cousins and family.

My whole family makes me think of love and courage and that why I want to be a famous rugby league player or something like that. Friends are fantastic. What are your friends like?

In Class 10 we were doing bar graphs of data we collected. I was investigating what was the most popular place to visit. It was awesome!!

This is my friend and she the best.

Hi and welcome to read the right thing. I am Talita live at Pt England school and today we are to talking about being a good friend. This is how you be one of the coolest friend ever (plus a bit more). We’re going to talk about qualities our first one is to be about caring for each other. To do this you will have to care for peoples things or them. For example if one of your friends leaves their netbook on the ground, pick it up.

This is the second part of the show is about cheering one another up. The first step is make a joke up and if that does not work then do the second step which is work pat their back saying are you alright. For example if someone is crying go over to them and ask them if they're alright patting them on the back.

Okay if you need a break go and get one but if you’re not tired keep reading. The next I am going to be talking is about how we are going to end the show and that is…   I hoped you enjoyed, because if you did see you next time on reading the right thing.

The Life Cycle of a Monarch Butterfly by Adriel

A Butterfly starts life as a very small egg. If you look close enough you can see the tiny caterpillar growing inside of it. The mother attaches a leaf that will be food for the caterpillar.

When the egg hatches the caterpillar will eat the leaf they were born on. Caterpillars need to eat and eat so they grow quickly. The caterpillars are extremely small when they are born. Caterpillars instantly grows as it eats.

As soon as the caterpillar is done growing it changes to a chrysalis or pupa. In the
Chrysalis the old body parts are transforming to a beautiful butterfly. This is called metamorphosis .

When the butterfly first emerges from the chrysalis both of the wings are going to be soft.
As soon the butterfly has rested it will pump blood to its wings. Later it will find a partner and make new eggs. This is when the butterfly life cycle starts all over again.

Blog Roll Out 2014!

Class 10 and Class 9 were so excited as we left the hall from assembly this morning. We all knew that at 10 o'clock we got to go back to the hall to receive our brand new netbooks.

When we arrived at the hall Mrs Burt gave us a helpful talk about looking after our netbooks, then soon after we were allowed to open the box and turn them on.

It was such an amazing experience seeing everybody delighted to have a brand-new device. Watch this space as we are going to share our amazing learning in the following weeks!

First School Assembly 2014

This morning we had our first schoolwide assembly for 2014! Mr Burt introduced to The Pt England value that we are focusing on this year - Caring - Tiaki Taonga. Caring is all about looking after those who are special to us and taonga means something that is sacred.

We also got to meet the prefects for 2014, they made us an amazing movie about playing in the right place.

Busy Afternoon

Class 10 had such a busy afternoon! On Friday we get our brand new netbooks, so we have been learning how to log in to our Google accounts.

We have also been working on our self portraits. First we had to do a draft, then we sketched our final copy onto a good piece of paper. We use pastels and crayons to make our portraits bright and colourful.

Here are some photos from a very busy afternoon, during our first week of school.
