London Olympic Opening Ceremony by Rebekah

Mike Mcroberts was reporting at the Kiwi House in london for the Olympic opening ceremony in last night. New Zealanders were cheering and were waving their flags at the Kiwi House.

Did you know that there were fireworks, dancing, singing, instruments, medals? The fireworks were so amazing and fantastic that it blew me away!

Mr. Bean was playing an instrument at the opening ceremony and he was so bored that he fell asleep and had a perfect dream.

It would be so cool going in a helicopter because I heard that James Bond and Queen Elizabeth went into a helicopter so they can see the olympic opening ceremony.

If I was in the audience or crowd I would be so thrilled and maybe fainting already and I will be cheering and screaming for my team NZ! When you were watching the olympic opening ceremony did you see the fiery olympic rings on prime?

PES Blogger Awards 2012

Miss Ouano and Room 14 are very proud of two smart and ambitious young ladies in our class! These wonderful girls stole the show at the the PES Blogger Awards today, winning 1st and 2 nd place for posting the most blog posts at out school!

Nearing the end of Assembly, Mrs Burt appeared to help give out the Reading Support Graduation Awards, no one was expecting anything else. Mrs Burt told us about her amazing trip and how she travelled FOUR continents. She then went on to say that she had met some researchers who gave her some fantastic statistics about the number of blog posts some children were making!  The fantastic result of the these statistics lead to a school acknowledgement to those who dedicate their time to write amazing and exciting blog posts!

Josephine and Lesieli were called up to the stage to received their awards for "Most Blog Posts". Josephine came in first place with a whopping 36 posts in Term One! Following closely behind came Lesieli at second place!

Lesieli and Josephine have been doing so well! They are always wanting to share their learning and experiences on their blog, even in their free time!

Well done Josephine and Lesieli! We are all very proud of you!

Miss Ouano :)

Going Fishing by Mohammed

Me and Dad went on the rocks. We had a fishing rod each I said, “I’ve got a huge fish.”
“Well done son,” Dad said. “You should be proud of yourself.” Then dad got a little fish. I said, “Let’s go and cook the fish”
“No,” said dad. “First we need to remove the scales and clean them.”

BMX Cycling by Jonson

The Olympic event I have chosen is Bmx cycling. You have to cycle fast to come first. You also have to stay in front of the race so you can win the gold medal!

BMX cycling was started in the1960's in California.
BMX first appeared in the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008. A man called Latvias Maris Strombergs won the first BMX olympics race.

You need a BMX bike if you are going to ride on the tracks, and you have to have protective clothing. It might be handy to have a helmet for your head!

If you want to win your bike has to be light so it can go quite fast. You need to know how to do bunny hops so you can have a better view when you get to a ramp. It is also important to be smart and know were the tracks are!

Method:

  1. Preheat your oven to 180C.
  2. In a large bowl, sift the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  3. Add the egg, milk, oil and vanilla essence and beat with a fork for about two minutes.
  4. Add the boiling water and mix until combined.

Olympic Rings Mosaic by Lesieli

Mosaics can be images you create with small pieces of coloured cardboard, glitter, or other materials. Some Mosaics are usually made by small pieces of glass or coloured stone. Today in Room 17 we made a Mosaic out of Cardboard, glitter, materials and paper.

The image we had to do were The Olympic Rings. The reason why we did this was because our Inquiry is about The London Olympics 2012.

After all our pieces were finished and we put it together and it became the Five Rings of the Olympic Games. There was one piece missing and that was part of the green as you can see.

Overall, I had a great time creating our mosaic! Doesn't it look fantastic?
